Greek Drama

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 2:59 pm

This is a brief summary of the Greek theater tradition.  Click here

The Perseus Digital Library is an online resource for art and documents.  Click for the Greek and Roman section.

This page is a master link to about 30 greek tragedies, comedies and other dramas.  I recommend Euripides’ Medea or the Trojan Women, Sophocles’ Electra or  Oedipus, or Lysistrata, by Aristophanes.

Atlantic System Project

Feel free to email me with questions for your project. You can also send me any handouts or documents you need printed. (I’d love to get those early so that I could copy them for you.) Remember, you will have only 15 minutes on Monday to talk to your partner and set up before we start presenting.

Here are some sentence frames that might help you with your multiple choice questions and your essay question. You do NOT have to use them, but it might help you make more analytical questions.

“Analyze the impact of……………..”
“Discuss the …………..”
“One comparison between ____________ and _______________….”
“The impact of _______________ on __________________ changed….”
“Changes in _____________ occured because …..”

Good luck!

Extra Credit project for the 3rd 6 Weeks

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — admin @ 5:12 pm

The World is a program produced by PRI (Public Radio International) and the BBC (British Broadcasting Network). It covers global issues for an American audience.

Your job, should you choose to accept it, is to illustrate your Change-Over-Time theme by listening to broadcasts of The World. The podcasts are available here. Since these are podcasts, you can a) listen to them online, b) download them onto your computer, or c) put them on an mp3 player.

Format :

  • Date of show
  • Name / subject of story
  • Paragraph describing subject of story & how it ILLUSTRATES YOUR THEME.

Things to Know:

  1. You may only use a broadcast ONCE. Each story must come from a different date.
  2. You may submit up to ten stories by EMAIL. Each is worth one point, which will be added to one of your test grades.
  3. These are all due by Sunday, December 14 at 8pm.

Review for the Fall Final 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — admin @ 11:48 am

Here’s the review for the final.  It is an OPTIONAL review.  You are NOT required to do it.

I would suggest, however, that you do it.  I would also suggest STRONGLY that you BRING THE REVIEW TO THE FINAL EXAM.

Just a suggestion.

Click here to download it.  (Right-click to save). May I also suggest you use the wiki forum to discuss this with your fellow students? (Follow this link)

Links

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — admin @ 10:33 am

I’ve made a new page with the links that we have talked about in class.  I will be adding quite a bit to it this weekend, and updating it throughout the year.  Look at the top of the screen — there is a “Links” page at the right-hand corner.

If you would like to suggest links to newstories or to sites please email me the links at jess.meyer@smcisd.net
